Terms
Updated: September 2, 2026
Welcome to Common Reader. By using the app or visiting the website, you understand and agree to these terms.
Use of the App
You are responsible for ensuring that any books, documents, notes, and other content you import, read, excerpt, sync, share, or process come from lawful sources and comply with copyright, privacy, data security, and applicable laws and regulations.
You may not use Common Reader for unlawful, infringing, or destructive activity.
Your Content
Books you import, notes you create, excerpts, highlights, reviews, reading records, and other content remain owned by you or their original rights holders. Common Reader processes this content only as necessary to provide local reading, management, indexing, cloud sync, AI assistance, and troubleshooting.
Please back up important content yourself. Software, systems, cloud services, networks, storage devices, and user actions may cause data loss, conflicts, or corruption.
Cloud Sync and Third-Party Services
Common Reader's cloud sync depends on the third-party storage service you choose. After it is enabled, book files, book information, reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, notes, and sync state may be written to that service. You are responsible for maintaining your third-party account, storage space, network environment, and access permissions.
Third-party cloud services, model services, app stores, and payment platforms are provided by their respective operators and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
AI Features
Common Reader's AI features require you to configure a third-party model service. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased, and should not be used as the sole basis for legal, medical, financial, academic assessment, or other high-risk matters.
When using AI features, you should confirm that you have the right to submit related text, notes, or context to the model service you configured, and you are responsible for related costs, quota usage, and third-party data processing risks.
Development Support, Purchases, and Fees
Common Reader may show development support links on the website and may provide paid versions through app stores or other platforms. Purchases, development support, refunds, taxes, invoices, and transaction disputes completed through app stores or payment platforms are handled according to the rules of those platforms.
Updates and Availability
The developer may modify, add, suspend, or remove features to fix issues, improve the experience, adapt to system changes, or adjust product direction. Common Reader does not guarantee that any feature will remain unchanged, uninterrupted, or suitable for every device, system version, or file format.
Intellectual Property
The Common Reader name, interface design, icons, code, website content, and related materials are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Unless an open-source license or explicit authorization states otherwise, you may not copy, resell, impersonate, remove rights notices, or distribute them in a way that confuses their source. Third-party open-source components used by the app are licensed under their respective licenses.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Common Reader is provided as is. The developer is not liable for indirect losses caused by use of or inability to use the app, third-party services, AI output, sync conflicts, data loss, file corruption, account issues, or payment issues.
Updates to These Terms
These terms may be updated as features, platform policies, or legal requirements change. Updated terms will be published on this page, and the update date shown on the page applies. If you do not agree to the updates, you may stop using Common Reader.
